IF - Layers

Here is my new picture for Illustration Friday "Layers".

My concept this time is about people: How many layers we actually put on our face everyday? They're not only the beautiful makeup on woman face, but also the emotional layers somebody put on to hide the real person inside them.

So I come up with a picture of a sad girl wearing a smiling mask. This is my linear:

The color is kinda washed out, so I bring it to photoshop to make the picture more vibrant. I adjust the level of color in Photoshop, then use Filter "Ink Outline". Here is my final design:

What happened on that wall??

This is the project I did for my Modern Illustration class. My teacher got inspired from Banksy's artworks & he wanted us to do something similar like that.

Concept: "Look at me now"
That's the title of Chris Brown's new song. But I actually was inspired by a small that my high school teacher had told me "Behind every stranger is a story that we can get a lesson from there". Everybody needs to be seen & need to be heard, even a very simple thing can mean a lot to them.

Process:

Then I took the picture in the hallway of school & start to work on that

My camera didn't work so well, so I had to change the color a bit in photoshop. After 3 hours in class, this is my final image:

IF - Sweater

Here is my new Illustration Friday picture, used Photoshop & Wacom Tablet.

This week's topic, "sweater", makes me think about something really warm. Then I thought if there is anything that also makes us feel warm & happy at the same time... It's love. Valentine day is over, but love is still everywhere. So i got an idea of a couple wearing the same sweaters.

This time I miss the thumbnail step, I went straight to illustrate the little couple.

I have to admit that I really like Korean Dramas, which always have a lot of chemistry between the main characters. And "back hug" is one of the parts I love most... It was just so sweet when a guy suddenly hugged his girl from the back... Here I want my little girl to do the same thing to her boyfriend. (anyway, the boy looks so mean ^^)

After that, i cleaned up my linear then choose the colors for my illustration. I want my design sweet & cute, so i chose "pastel coated" color. Then I thought about make it look like a postcard 8x6, i added more detail for the background. I also came back & played around with the linear drawing of the couple. I brought the linear go offside of the color a bit to make it more interesting.





Here is my final design with a little message "Your heart makes me feel warmer than any sweater does... ♥"



(Anyway, I think during the winter, the sweater would work better for me than a boyfriend ^^)

IF - Reverse

Here is my new Illustration Friday picture, used Photoshop & Wacom Tablet.

When I heard this week topic, "Reverse", I think about role reversal. Then I came up with an idea how about reverse our role with our cutie pets.




If we make a role reversal with those little birds in the cage, can we realize how much freedom they need? Through my design, I also want to send a message that "Animals DO deserve freedom"
